After an incident
What to do after suspected fraud
Act quickly, but use trusted contact routes. The right sequence depends on what was exposed: money, card details, passwords, an account session, BankID approval or a device.
Stop further action
End contact with the suspected scammer. Do not send a second payment to recover the first, and do not install remote-control software. If someone is controlling your screen or device, disconnect it from the network and use another trusted device to seek help.
Contact the right organization
Call your bank immediately for payments, cards or BankID events. Use the bank's official number or app—not contact details from the suspicious message. Contact affected email, social or marketplace services through their official account-recovery pages.
- Freeze or block affected payment methods
- Change exposed passwords from a trusted device
- End unknown sessions and review recovery details
- Warn contacts if your account sent messages
Preserve evidence and report
Keep screenshots, transaction references, sender details and times without continuing the conversation. Report the incident to the relevant platform and local police when appropriate. FraudReader can support your review, but it cannot recover funds or replace your bank, police or emergency services.
